Furry Friends

At Rhumhor, we understand that dogs are part of the family and we welcome your furry best friends to enjoy a holiday too!   Our own dog Rowan loves nothing more than a stay at Rhumhor to explore the gardens, take a paddle in the loch and burn some energy on one of the many walks in the surrounding areas    There are lots of fabulous walks and dog friendly places to visit.  Your furry friend is sure to come across some other holiday or local dogs to play with.

Depending on the size of your dog, some of the garden may be suitably doggy-proof but we can’t give you any guarantees as it definitely hasn’t proved to be westie-proof!  Please keep your furry friends under supervision as we wouldn’t want them to come to any harm on the road.  We also ask you not to leave them alone in the property as, from experience, they can become very distressed when left alone in an unfamiliar place.

Rhumhor has new owners!

On 12 April 2018, Rhumhor changed ownership. Emma & Euan Miller are the new owners and they are delighted to welcome you to the beautiful Rhumhor.

Emma & Euan have considerable experience running high end self catering accommodation in Scotland and aim to bring their high standards of quality to Rhumhor, continuing and building upon the excellent service provided by the previous owners, Bill & Martine Cherry.

Rhumhor represents a dream come true for the Millers who have longed to find the perfect blissful retreat in the Argyll area for some time. Upon setting foot in Rhumhor, they fell in love with her exquisite character, unapologetic grandeur and unique beauty. The couple, their twins Ruaridh & Harris and youngest son, Forbes are excited to build new memories at Rhumhor and to help guests share in that experience too. The family is completed by Rowan, their west highland terrier, who looks forward to welcoming your well behaved furry friends with you on your adventure!

The Millers would like to wish Bill and Martine all the best for their future and hope to see you soon at Rhumhor!

New Gift Shop for Loch Goil

PineTrees Gift Shop Loch Goil

New Gift and Craft Shop Opens on Loch Goil

We are delighted to see PineTrees Giftshop newly opened in Lochgoilhead. It is located next to the village post office, opposite the village car park. The shop has stunning views of Loch Goil, however it is worth tearing your eyes away from the vista to look at all the lovely gifts and crafts on display. Most of the items are made locally, proving what a talented bunch of people live and work in the glen!

There is fine handmade silver jewellery, beautiful paintings, cards, candles and craft items. There are also plenty of souvenir Lochgoilhead items and some great books on history and walks in the local area.

We think this will be a real hit with our guests as it is the ideal place to buy souvenirs of your stay and also some amazing and unique gifts for family and friends back home.

Our best wishes to Pinetrees – we know you are going to be a huge success.

Our 7th Christmas at Rhumhor

1st Christmas Decoration
This week I’ve been unpacking the Christmas decorations here at Rhumhor. Decorating the house for the festive season is one of my favourite activities at the house, I always find Rhumhor truly magical when it is ‘dressed’ for Christmas. Whether it is putting up the little tree in the dining room or the big Christmas Arch in the family room it always feels exciting.

A Christmas Memory

As I unwrapped ornaments I uncovered a memento from our very first Christmas, a decoration given to us by our first Christmas guests. I still find it hard to believe that was seven years ago!

We feel privileged to have been able to offer Rhumhor as a wonderful home for families to celebrate their Christmas, and we always love hearing how they have enjoyed the decorations and the special festive feel the house has. Our very first Christmas guests came from Glasgow and Spain and spanned three generations and we are glad to know they still have lovely memories of their stay here.

Now as we complete our decorating we look forward to welcoming our guests this week to spend their 2017 Christmas at Rhumhor and we wish all guests, past, Christmas and future the very best time at Christmas.

Merry Christmas from Bill and Martine, Carrick Castle, Loch Goil x
